What to make of the two events? At first glance, the famous description of Democrats as
the “mommy party” and Republicans as the “daddy party” comes to mind. But that is not quite right. While the Harris-Cheney event was certainly a mommy party affair, the Trump event was more diverse than the daddy party. The audience was about equally divided between women and men, and their concerns were more universal than a political consultant’s list of issues designed to appeal to centrist women in a key swing state.
